The Position
Health Program Specialists plan, develop, implement and evaluate health services and activities; develop goals, objectives, program requirements and procedures; provide technical information regarding specialized health related conditions; and participate and provide support to various committees, advisory boards and other work groups.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Division of Public and Behavioral Health is recruiting for a Health Program Specialist I in Carson City, NV. The position is primarily responsible for policy and procedure development, review, and Implementation; quality assurance; and WIC program reviews and will serve as the Civil Rights 504 Coordinator. The position provides technical assistance and consultation in areas such as program administration, policy Interpretation, and quality assurance to sub-granted agencies, clinics, and internal WIC staff. In addition, this position assists in the preparation of trainings, the annual Nevada WIC State Plan, and state and federal reports. This position will serve as a subject matter expert for WIC policies and procedures and WIC program reviews. The position will acquire extensive knowledge of applicable Code of Federal Regulations and must be able to convey current and potential policy and procedural changes to WIC stakeholders and Internal staff. The position also provides technical assistance to sub-granted Local Agencies and clinics which provide direct WIC services to participants throughout Nevada. Significant knowledge of the NV WISH Management Information System and the Electronic Benefit Transfer system requirements must be attained within six months of employment. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
