Staff 1, Associate Engineer

The Position
Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located within the Construction Division, Carson City. Incumbent will be responsible for reviewing original project test reports for compliance and maintaining the Quality Assurance (QA)/Independent Assurance (IA) filing system; conducting audits within the IA Labs statewide; assisting field testers and Resident Engineers' with test methods and procedures statewide; assisting with the instruction of QA/IA annual training classes statewide; performing on-site project reviews on all phases of construction projects statewide; and monitoring and assisting project inspectors in the performance of their duties statewide. This position will require NAQTC or WAQTC qualification and ACI certification within the first year. This position will also require up to 50% travel (via ground or air transportation) throughout the state and will require working variable shifts and days (including weekends and holidays). THIS POSITION MAY BE USED TO UNDERFILL A STAFF II POSITION. SUCCESSFUL INCUMBENT MAY PROGRESS TO THE NEXT LEVEL AFTER MEETING THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE, AND APPROVAL OF THE APPOINTING AUTHORITY. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field; OR two years of journey level technical experience equivalent to an Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
